Getting Started
LETS Members are a group of local people who pay an
annual membership fee to belong to the group in their area.
They agree to abide by the rules of the group and to follow
the Ethics, Values and Principles of the trading system.
All members are listed in a Resource Guide which is
updated regularly and is posted out to members without the Internet and accessed online through a password. The
information contained in the Guide is confidential to Members.
Once the membership fee is paid the new Member is able to start trading.
Services and goods are listed in the Resource Guide and are available to all Members. Once selected, the Member
phones or emails the Member offering the goods or
service and makes arrangements for work to be done or
goods provided. A price is agreed upon. Once the trade is
completed the Member who has initiated the trade writes out a transaction slip for the amount agreed in $B.
All completed slips are sent or given to the Transactions Coordinator for processing. All trades are recorded and
accounts debited or credited. Regular statements of
account are sent out or emailed and a grand total given of all $B traded during the course of the Membership.
Unlike a banking system there is no advantage in
saving $B as the system works best by keeping the $B
circulating. Accounts can only be in debit by $B300 and are
reviewed regularly by the Committee. In some instances
new Members will be slightly in debit until they started having a 'take up' of their services or goods. Don't let this
prevent you from beginning trading.
Any queries can be answered by phoning the office on
8556 2705 or by asking any Member of the Committee or
another Member. We're all there to help and get you
trading.
